SLEEP PARALYSIS

Did you ever experience an ominous presence that you could not identify, moving about like a shapeshifting shadow? The most terrifying thing is that you cant do anything about it.
Worrying about evil spirits sounds silly, but thats how terrifying and how real the experience feels like. It is SLEEP PARALYSIS.

SLEEP PARALYSIS is a stage during waking up or falling asleep in which a person is aware but unable to move or speak. During sleep paralysis, one may hear, feel or see things that are actually not there, can also feel a preasure on their chest or sense a hand around their throat.

When Does Sleep Paralysis Usually Occur?

Sleep paralysis usually occurs at one of  two times. If it occurs while you are falling asleep, it's called hypnagogic or predormital sleep paralysis. If it happens as you are waking up, it's called hypnopompic or postdormital sleep paralysis.

Hypnagogic Sleep Paralysis

As you fall asleep, your body slowly relaxes. Usually you become less aware, so you do not notice the change. However, if you remain or become aware while falling asleep, you may notice that you cannot move or speak.

Hypnopompic Sleep Paralysis

During sleep, your body alternates between REM (rapid eye movement) and NREM (non-rapid eye movement) sleep. One cycle of REM and NREM sleep lasts about 90 minutes. NREM sleep occurs first and takes up to 75% of your overall sleep time. During NREM sleep, your body relaxes and restores itself. At the end of NREM, your sleep shifts to REM. Your eyes move quickly and dreams occur, but the rest of your body remains very relaxed. Your muscles are "turned off" during REM sleep. If you become aware before the REM cycle has finished, you may notice that you cannot move or speak.

Who Develops Sleep Paralysis?

Up to 4 out of every 10 people may have sleep paralysis. This condition may occur in those who are otherwise healthy or those with narcolepsy, or it may run in families as a result of specific genetic change. This condition can be triggered by sleep depriation, psychological stress, or abnormal sleep cycles.

Sleep paralysis tends to first appear in the teen ages. It then occurs most often when you are in 20s and 30s. It may continue into your later years.

CAUSE AND TREATMENT:
Sleep paralysis is most common for people with medical conditions or risk factor like:
  • Narcolepsy
  • Sleep apnea
  • Irregular sleep Schedules
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Genetic factor
Sleep paralysis itself is not harmful and the episode after resolve on their own. You dont necessarily need to seek any special treatment. Many people with sleep paralysis develop anxiety because the episode can be frightening. In some cases, this can even cause insomnia if people feel afraid to sleep. If that happens or if episodes bacome more frequent , its time to seek professional help.
Your doctor may ask you about your sleeping
patterns and medical history. They may also ask you to keep a sleep diary, documenting your experience during sleeping paralysis episodes.
In some me cases your doctor may recommend you participate in an overnight sleep study to track your brain waves and breathing during sleep. This is usually only recommended if sleep paralysis is causing you to lose sleep.

Educate yourself:
K
nowing more about sleep paralysis — like the fact that it's common and not actually harmful — can make occurrences easier to deal with and help reduce anxiety about the condition.

How To Enhance Your Child's Creativity

Toddlerhood is a great time to focus on creativity because it is by nature the most imaginative period of a child's life. "A toddler who's encouraged to think out of the box will know how to look for new and innovative solutions to problems." Thinking out of the box is easy because they haven't yet encountered the restrictions of the box. To them, nothing seems impossible.
A 4-year-old who wants a cookie from a high counter will likely get a chair to stand on – a method she knows to be effective solutions.

As a parent our goal should be to balance the teaching of necessary social skills with the nurturing of a child's creative impulses.

Here, some guidelines:

Children engaged in passive activities:
Watching TV, for instance – are taking in other people's images and ideas instead of coming up with their own.
Ordinary activities such as reading aloud or taking a walk outside do much more than television to develop a child's creative side.

Provide plenty of safe supplies:
Toddlers love to explore new ways of using things, so look for non-toxic finger-paint, markers, clays, and play dough that are harmless if eaten.

Participate in creative projects:
Studies have found that children whose parents participate in creative play with them develop broader vocabularies and more flexible thinking skills. So sit down and finger-paint with your child. Or play dress-up with him. "If you're interested, they will be too."

Don't force them:
Never insist a child to engage in artistic projects if they are not interested. Above all, you want your child to realize that the creative process is a pleasure, not a chore to be endured.

Cultivate creative critical thinking:
As your kids get older, ask them how they approach certain problems and how they might do things differently. Have your kids brainstorm their ideas on paper or use mind-mapping.

Help kids pursue their passions:
Pay attention to your child’s interests and make these materials and activities available to them.

Take the time for your own creativity:
Since kids learn from watching their parents, be creative too. Join your child when they’re drawing or building or colouring. Help your child to make some creative crafts.

Remember ! Every child is not same but every child is special.

Meditation

Meditation is one of the ancient forms of mental, spiritual and physical health practices.Meditation originated in India, a very long time ago.The oldest written mention of meditation is from 1,500 BCE in the Vedas. That is the time when the Vedas made it to paper, but it must be understood that the Vedas had been memorized and passed down as an oral tradition for centuries, long before they were finally written down.
Meditation started to become really mainstream around the turn of the millennium—but few people are aware of how old and broad this art really is, and how it got developed in different parts of the world.

The Hindu tradition of meditation includes both the Yogis meditating in caves, as well as the Sages (rishis) of the Vedic culture. It is the oldest meditation tradition on Earth—still alive and thriving. It has hundreds of lineages and techniques.
The first collection of scientific studies on meditation was made in 1977 by James Funder burk, a student of Swami Rama of the Himalayan International Institute of Yoga Science.
Meditation sounds simple. But it takes discipline to remain still in body and mind.
In today’s date people are so busy in their professional life that every one is leading stressful life. To remain healthy in this stressful life meditation has become very important.

Benefits of meditation
